Shiatsu Hand and Foot Treatment

Shiatsu is a type of treatment which was established in the last 15 years in the alternative medicine. The impact of the finger pressure technic from Japan leaves impressions in the sense of the word.  Already by treatment the body can be returned into its original energetic form. A Shiatsu treatment is always individually aligned. In the beginning of each treatment a Hara (belly) diagnosis is provided. The respective zones which are scanned in the abdominal cavity are assigned to different meridian systems.

This way of treatment was devoleped from Anma, a tradional Japanese massage, and western physiotherapeutic methods. In recent time close legal regulations were imposed upon to the old welfare art Anma, in order to allow it to be implementen.. Thus interested therapists which engaged themselves for a continuation of the Anma tradition developed the new form "Shiatsu". The term sits down together from "Shi" = finger and "atsu" = pessure. Two fundamental directions crystallized which were general for the development of Shiatsu from crucial influence and are further important: The "Namikoshi" style and Zen Shiatsu or "Masunaga" style.

Tokujiro Namikoshi connected Shiatsu realizations with the western medicine and he was the one who implemented acknowledgment of Shiatsu in Japan. His style is mainly aligned to certain points of reflex which connected with the central and autonomous nervous system.

Shitsuto Masunaga brought however the knowlegde of the tradional philosophical and medical principles to the eastern medicine with the western physiology in agreement. He accommodated the meridian systems in Shiatsu, the extended system of 12 meridians in the arms and 12 meridians in the legs. Normally the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) relies mainly on 6 meridians in each case in arms and legs.

Meridians are energy lines which are connected with all organs. Therefor also the names of the meridians for example: large intestine meridian or stomach meridian. Also the Hara diagnosis as substantial element and characteristic of Shiatsu brought in Shitsuto Masunaga. This sophisiticated system is for everyone, in particular however for therapists who are very intrested, since it brings with the comprehensive and in thousands of years worked satisfactorily action spectrum of the eastern medicine in direct contact.

By working on teh meridian with the finger pressure can open and manufacture a reconciliation between interior and external bodies. That is the energy we are always connected with and it can circulate then with high oscillation quality in us. If this is the case after a Shiatsu treatment no illness will develop. Therefore Shiatsu has primarily preventive function and finds not only in the medical case application. In both cases however the same principle works: The finger pressure on the meridians mobilizes our own welfare forces.

The treatment takes place on a Futon. This gives the possibility to treat someone in different ways. So you can included streches of the meridians into the treatment which looks like passive Yoga. This spectrum of reasssuring and dynamic Shiatsu is integrated into the treatment in order to adjust as basis our health the energy emptiness and the energy abundance in the body.
